Square Kufic Calligraphy: Letters

In the table below, you can see the shapes that the letters take in Square Kufic calligraphy in each form (initial, medial, final, and isolated).

Note that the letters have many variations, and this table shows only one variant for each form. The letters can be adapted to fit the space. For example, in the previous post, we saw that the ا took a different shape to fit the space with the ب:

We will look at different variations of each letter in future posts, as we start constructing words, to see how the letters adapt to the space available.
